**Program Information:
Compost Co-ops**
The Compost Co-op Program provides 50-100 households per location with a membership
that allows them to drop off kitchen organics waste and utilize finished compost at their
designated site location. As a membership requirement, Co-op members are responsible for
volunteering two hours per month to maintain their community composting infrastructure,
or pay a small donation if volunteer hours cannot be fulfilled. Locations include businesses,
churches, community gardens, parks, and open spaces.
Estimated Metrics per Site:
- 50-100 households served
- 10,000- 15,000 lbs of organics diverted annually
- 1,000-1,500 lbs of compost amendment created annually (10% of organics total)
- 500-1000 lbs of compost amendment provided to communities annually
- 0.55 metric tons/month of avoided CO2E emissions per location annually
